Day 1 of the NSW Junior State Age Finals saw our younger Piranhas take to the pool with Noah kicking off the medal tally with a Silver in the 400FR. Joce dominated in all 6 of her races taking out an impressive 4 Golds, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze. Congratulations to our Boys 12-13 Years 4 x 50FR Relay team who smashed their way into 1st place. In addition to all these placings, our Piranhas took out another 7 Top 10 finishes.
On top of that we congratulate JOCELYNE MELBOURN on her unofficial NSW Records in the girls 10 Years 50FR with a 29.02 and 200FR with a time of 2:18.84.
Day 2 was another exciting day for our junior Piranhas with Joce M taking out Gold in the 100FR and 50BF and Silver in the 100BR and 50BR, Sam D taking out Silver in the 800FR, Hannah H taking out Bronze in the 50FR and the boys 10-13 Years 10 x 50m Freestyle Club relay finishing the meet off with a GOLD 5 secs ahead of their nearest rival. The girls 10-12 Years 10x50m Free Relay team just missed out on a bronze but swam valiantly making us all proud nonetheless.
A HUGE congratulations to JOCELYNE MELBOURN for breaking the Girls 10 Years 100FR NSW & All Comers record in a time of 1:03.02 – a Record which has not been broken for 35 YEARS!!!!! A little bit of trivia, the Record was previously set in our own little backyard – the Warringah Aquatic Centre
We had 7 other Top 10 finishes today with lots of PBs all round.
In other exciting news, Cameron Gledhill won the Forbes Carlile MBE Distance Coach Award – Yay Cam!!! .
Congratulations to all our Junior State Age Swimmers. You made us all so very proud and I’ve gotta say, the cheering from the Piranhas on the sidelines could be heard from the soundproof Recording room and made the meet even more exciting!
