About Us
Our Club
Warringah Aquatic Swim Club Inc – the Piranhas – was officially formed in 1986 by Nick Van Houten and Kay Middleton. The Club is based at the Warringah Aquatic Centre and the Club’s focus is on competitive swimming as well as catering for surf, open water and school swimming. Our philosophy embraces swimmers of all ages and abilities and encourages swimmers to achieve their highest goals possible.
The Club facilitates opportunities for swimmers to compete at meets at all levels including Club, Sydney Metro, Regional NSW, State, National and International, and many Piranhas have represented Australia at the highest level. Our Club is renowned and admired for its relaxed squads at major championships and the manner in which our swimmers compete and support their team mates during meets.
One of the most successful swimming clubs in Sydney, Warringah Aquatic Swim Club has produced an enviable Hall of Fame of athletes. Check out our honour roll here and click here for a few news articles about more of our members, past and present.
Our Club is one of 16 Clubs in the Metro North East Area which falls under the banner of Swimming Metro North East. Check out the SMNE website for all Area information. State meets are run by Swimming NSW, check out the SNSW website for all the latest State swimming news and events. Swimming Australia is the peak governing body for competitive swimming. Check out the SwimAus website for all national swimming information.
Sponsorship Opportunities
The Warringah Aquatic Swim Club is very privileged to have sponsors which support the Club financially and have also aided in providing world class equipment to the Club. The support of our major sponsors is vital to the ongoing growth and development of the Club and swimmers.
There are different pathways to provide sponsorship.
The first way is to provide services or discounted services in the form of professional sports nutrition, personal trainers, massage therapists, equipment, clothing, prizes etc.
The second way to provide sponsorship for our Swim Club is by becoming a sponsor of one of the Club’s events. Each year, the Warringah Aquatic Swim Club delivers two major swim meets which attract over 400 swimmers from the surrounding regions to compete. These events provide avenues to sponsor the Club from being a naming rights sponsor of the Meet to being an individual event sponsor, for example the ever popular Dash for Cash 50m sprint.
